Adrisiops weugi (Smiley Phacops)

This is a rare, newly described fossil trilobite, Adrisiops weugi - a Phacopid, from the Middle Devonian of Morocco. The trilobite is sometimes referred to as a 'smiley Phacops' because of its bulbous glabella with a 'smile'.

The fossil measures inches 1.77 long, and 1.0 inches wide. The entire specimen, trilobite and matrix, measures 2.88 inches long, 2.3 inches wide and 1.55 inches high. Extremely well-preserved Schizochroal lenses are present in both eyes.

There is a repair running through the middle of the glabella and over the left eye and circling underneath it and down the left and right sides of the thorax.
