This Araucaria mirabilis pine cone was found in Patagonia, Argentina. During the Jurassic, it was buried (along with thousands of others) in a thick volcanic ash layer. The preservation of these specimens is outstanding.
The specimen has been cut in half, lengthwise to showcase the seeds still embedded in the cone. The entire cone is 2.2 inches long (stem insertion to tip) and 1.6 inches thick.
