Hollardops mesocristatus (formerly known as Metacanthina) is a magnificent trilobite from the Middle Devonianat Djebel Issoumour. Hollardops is renowned for its big semi-circular eyes containing multiple schizochroal eye lenses. Scabriscutellum sp. are often found in the same deposits as Hollardops, and they have holochroal lenses in their eyes.
The Hollardops is 2.67 inches long and 1.66 inches wide. The Scabriscutellum is in a partially rolled position and is 1.65 inches long (if flattened) and 0.89 inches wide. Trilobites and matrix is 3.33 by 2.3 by 3.33 inches. Right eye of the Hollardops has extremely well-preserved lenses as do both eyes of the Scabriscutellum.
The Hollardops has a repair across the tip of the left and right genal genal spines and thorax and there is another repair on the left cheek of the Scabriscutellum.
