Hollardops mesocristatus (formerly known as Metacanthina) is a magnificent trilobite from the Middle Devonian. Hollardops lived on the ocean floor, which is now part of the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Hollardops is renowned for its big semi-circular eyes containing multiple schizochroal eye lenses.
The trilobite is 2.44 inches long and 1.55 inches wide. Trilobite and matrix is 3.2 by 3.44 by 2.1 inches. The schizochroal lenses in both eyes are extremely well-preserved. The matrix under and around the genal spines , as well as the pygidium has been removed. This gives the appearance that the trilobite is flying.
There is a repair across the pygidium.
When mailing out this trilobite, it will be secured to a plastic base with a plastic cover over the entire specimen and wrapped in bubble wrap.
