Moroccanites

Morocconites malladoides is the only designated species within this genus, so far. The defining feature of the trilobite is its long, upturned spine extending off the cephalon. Some call it the unicorn trilobite. The function on the spine is not known. It dates from the Lower to Middle Devonian and comes from Morocco.

The schizochroal lenses in both eyes of the trilobite are exteremely well-preserved.The trilobite body is 1.65 inches long and 0.95 inches wide. Trilobite with the rostral spine is 2.0 inches long. Matrix and trilobite is 2.85 inches long, 2.0 inches wide na 1.55 inches high. The trilobite has been freed fro the matrix except for a small pillar which attaches it to the base, The specimen will be mailed out in a container which has been customized to secure the trilobite to the container. Therefore, there will be one screw hole in the matrix. This in no way compromises the integrity of the trilobite.

There is a repair at the base of the spine and another across the upper thorax.
